New Government Scheme

The introduction of the pre-school year is a major development in the whole area of Early childhood education and the importance of pre-school education in the year prior to a child going to primary school.

What is the Scheme

The scheme was set up to provide a free pre-school place for every child, the year before they go to school. The capitation amount will be paid directly to the pre-school at the start of each scheme.

Age Entry

The child must between 3.3 years and 4.7 months.

How the scheme works for full time places.

A child that attends a crèche between 3-5 days will be entitled to a number of hours free per day and Crèche fees will be reduced by €48.50 a week (for 50 weeks of the year)

A child that attends playschool must attend playschool for 5 days a week and the full fee of €64.50 is paid (for 38 weeks of the year)
